Minutemen Head To Fordham For Final Meet Before Atlantic 10 Championships

Last Time Out
The Minutemen swept the podium in both the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke last time out at the Ramsden Invitaitonal at Dartmouth last weekend. Dias Konysbayev led the first sweep of the final day of competition on Saturday in the 200 Free with a winning time of 1:45.10 while Al Madden won the 100 Breaststroke immediately following with a time of 59.07. Kyle Stefanides and Kellen Grey put together a one-two finish in the 100 Back and helped UMass to a relay win with Madden and Ryan Pedrick in the 200 Medley Relay.
Against Fordham
UMass leads the all-time series 19-1 against Fordham dating back to the first meeting in 1996. Last season, the Minutemen defeated the Rams 211-87 on Senior Day at home in Rogers Pool behind four new pool records set by a trio of graduating seniors. The teams have split their last two meetings with both home teams winning the meet as Fordham came away with a 156-142 back in 2017.
Looking Ahead
After taking on the Rams this weekend, the Minutemen will gear up for the Atlantic 10 Championships on Feb. 20-23 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The meet opens up on Wednesday afternoon with the prelims of the 1-Meter Dive followed by the finals of the 1-Meter, the 200 Medley Relay and the 800 Freestyle Relay beginning at 5 p.m. The final three days of championship competition will open with the prelims at 10 a.m. each day followed by the finals beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the evening.Â
