Game Notes Massachusetts // New Hampshire

The Opening Tip
• University of Massachusetts women's basketball is back on the Mullins Center hardwood on Thurs., Dec. 5, welcoming New Hampshire to Jack Leaman Court for a 7 p.m. game on ESPN+. Colin Cronin and Ryan Beaton will be on the call.

• The Minutewomen are looking for their fifth win in their last six games, most recently heading to Vermont's Patrick Gymnasium and claiming an 83-49 win on Fri., Nov. 29. Both Hailey Leidel and Destiney Philoxy chipped in 25 points in a game that saw Massachusetts turn the ball over just five times–the lowest in a single game since Feb. 13, 2016.

• Massachusetts is 3-0 this season against teams in America East, having previously defeated UMass Lowell (Nov. 14; 74-58), Hartford (Nov. 17; 74-48) and Vermont (Nov. 29; 83-49). In those three previous contests, the Minutewomen have outscored opponents by over 25 points per game and averaged 11.7 turnovers–nine fewer than foes from America East.

• Leidel's 20.7 points per game are a team-high this season against America East, as are freshman Angelique Ngalakulondi's 7.7 rebounds off the bench. Ngalakulondi pulled in a career-best 12 boards vs. Hartford on Nov. 17, the most by a Minutewoman in a game this season.

• Leidel (1,462 points) holds sole possession of eighth place on the UMass all-time scoring list, needing four points to tie Pam Rosanio (2004-08) for seventh with 1,466 and 28 to match Jennifer Butler (1999-2003) with 1,490. Leidel is also one of 17 players in program history with at least 1,000 points plus 500 rebounds. She has made at least one three-point field goal in 12 straight games since Feb. 24, and 29 of her last 30 games dating back to Dec. 7, 2018.

• UMass' 25 assists vs. Brown (on 30 made baskets) were three short of tying a Division I program record, set in December 2004 vs. Toledo. Nine different players had a dime, with junior Bre Hampton-Bey checking in at a team-high seven on the night.

• A win Thursday night would be the third in a row at home for UMass, marking the first time the squad has accomplished that feat since Nov. 6-20, 2018.
