The Need to Knows
• University of Massachusetts women's basketball makes its final stop before Thanksgiving on Mon., Nov. 25 with a trip to BIG EAST foe St. John's. Tip-off on ESPN3 is slated for 7 p.m. in UMass' first matchup with a current BIG EAST foe since March 2, 2013.
• Monday's game serves as a homecoming of sorts for sophomore Destiney Philoxy, who is a native of Queens, New York. Four other Minutewomen hail from the Empire State in junior Paige McCormick (Ogdensburg) and freshmen Maeve Donnelly (Binghamton), Grace Heeps (East Greenbush) and Sydney Taylor (Huntington Station).
• The Minutewomen trek to Queens owners of a three-game winning streak, coming on triumphs over UMass Lowell (Nov. 14, 74-58), Hartford (Nov. 17, 74-48) and Brown (Nov. 21, 95-42). The Brown game featured a balanced effort with four double-figure scorers led by 20 points from senior Hailey Leidel, and both freshman Maeve Donnelly (8) and junior Paige McCormick (7) paced the rebounding efforts for the Maroon and White.
• UMass' 25 assists vs. Brown (on 30 made baskets) were three short of tying a Division I program record, set in December 2004 vs. Toledo. Nine different players had a dime, with junior Bre Hampton-Bey checking in at a team-high seven on the night.
• Leidel (1,428 points) now holds sole possession of eighth place on the UMass all-time scoring list and needs 38 points to tie Pam Rosanio (2004-08) for ninth with 1,466. She is also one of 17 players in program history with at least 1,000 points plus 500 rebounds.
