FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY
  • Redshirt junior running back Bilal Ally averaged 5.0 or more yards per carry in three of his four seasons with the team, including 2016, 2017 and 2019.
  • Ally owns 982 career rushing yards over 207 attempts, an average of 4.7 per carry. Prior to the 2019 season, Ally primarily played as a reserve running back during Marquis Young's tenure with the program (2015-18).
  • Over 76 carries through six games played at running back in 2019, Ally posted 377 rushing yards for an average of 5.0 per carry.

COLE WORLD

  • Junior linebacker Cole McCubrey leads the team with 48 tackles in 2019, split between 25 solo and 23 assisted stops. His solo and assisted tackle numbers are also tops on the team. He ranks 14 total tackles ahead of the next active Minuteman in the category (Martin Mangram - 34).
  • McCubrey needed only five games this season to surpass his previous single-season career best for total tackles as he had 35 in 12 games played (four starts) during 2018.

TURNED ASIDE
  • Freshman Jermaine "OC" Johnson, Jr., blocked an FIU punt on Oct. 5 when he deflected a Tommy Heatherly punt attempt from the FIU 45 that landed at the UMass 37 yard line.
  • Sophomore Samuel Emilus scooped up the loose ball and returned it 11 yards to the UMass 48.
  • It was the first blocked punt by the Minutemen since Joe Colton stuffed an Akron punt attempt on Nov. 10, 2012.
