UMass Wraps Up Regular Season At VCU On Sunday

AMHERST, Mass. – Having already locked up home field for next weekend's Atlantic 10 quarterfinals, the Massachusetts women's soccer team (9-4-3, 6-2-1) will look to end the regular season on high note and secure the No. 3 seed in the tournament when the Minutewomen visit VCU on Sunday afternoon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

UMass enters the match on a three-game win streak, and is 6-1-1 in its last eight games. A win on Sunday would guarantee Massachusetts the No. 3 seed in the league tournament, while a win or draw on Sunday would give the Minutewomen their best A-10 record since the 2011 campaign. A victory would also mark the first time since 2001 that UMass has reached double-digit wins in consecutive seasons.

Peyton Ryan has been the story for the Minutewomen of late, going 4-0-1 in her last five games and 16 saves, including a five-save shutout against Davidson on Oct. 17. Lauren Bonavita, meanwhile, has found the back of the net in each of her last three matches bringing her to nine overall this season behind only freshman Melissa Kössler.

VCU is on the outside looking in for the conference playoffs, sitting 11th in the league with a 2-5-2 record (8-6-3 overall). The Rams, though, have earned points in each of its last two matches following a victory over Dayton. last Sunday before battling to a 1-1 draw with Davidson on Thursday.
