Last Time Out
UMass opened A-10 play with a pair of wins last weekend defeating Duquesne, 2-0, at home before picking up a 1-0 win at Rhode Island. Lauren Bonavita and Jenny Hipp each tallied goals against the Dukes, while Kelly Marra picked up the game-winner against the Rams. Peyton Ryan earned a pair of shutouts on the weekend to earn Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Best Start Since 2006
With a 7-2-0 start to the year, UMass has posted its best record to begin a campaign since 2006 which also started 7-2-0. The two wins to open A-10 play marked the first time to open the league schedule with a pair of victories since 2011. That terrific start is in part due to the defense which has six shutouts so far marking the most since doing the same in 2015.

Six And Counting
UMass' six-match win streak is currently the 9th longest in the country right now. Oklahoma State and Georgetown have each won seven straight. Boston College and Vanderbilt are tied for the longest streak in the nation with 10 consecutive wins each.

Leading The A-10 And The NCAA
Through nine matches, UMass is putting up prolific numbers this year. As a team, UMass leads the A-10 in 12 different statistical categories including scoring offense (3.0 goals/game) which also ranks fourth nationally. The Minutewomen also lead the league in goals-against-average which is 14th in the NCAA (0.44 GAA). Nationally, UMass is fifth in total points (88) and 10th in total goals (27) and third in total assists (34). Individually, Peyton Ryan leads the league in GAA, which is 23rd nationally, and save percentage. Erin Doster leads the A-10 in total assists, while Rebeca Frisk is second in total points and tied with Lauren Bonavita for third in total goals.

Next Up
UMass will have another split weekend of league play next week when the Minutewomen host St. Bonaventure on Thursday, Sept. 27 (4 PM) before heading to La Salle on Sunday, Sept. 30 (1 PM).
