Rebeca Frisk netted UMass' first hat trick in eight years as the Minutewomen defeated Chicago State 8-0 last Friday at Rudd Field. The eight goals marked the most for the women's soccer program since scoring nine against Albany in 2000. After leading 2-0 at halftime thanks to Frisk's first two goals of the game late in the first half, UMass scored six more times in the second half for its third-straight shutout win.
Leading The A-10
Through six matches, UMass leads the Atlantic 10 in several categories including scoring offense (3.00 goals/game), total goals (18), total points (56) and total assists (20). Defensively, UMass leads the league in goals-against-average (0.50) and is second in save percentage (0.857). Nationally, UMass is ninth in scoring offense and third in both points and assists per game.
Next Up
UMass will open Atlantic 10 play on Thursday, Sept. 20 when Duquesne visits Rudd Field (4 PM). Admission is free and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+. With the start of league play, the Minutewomen will then head to Rhode Island to face the Rams on Sunday, Sept. 23 with a 1 PM kick-off.
