Four In A Row: Women's Soccer Downs Eastern Michigan 6-1
September 16, 2018 | Women's Soccer
Minutewomen close out non-conference slate with four-match win streak.
Though UMass (5-2-0) saw its shutout streak end at a total of 342 minutes, it did increase on its already Atlantic 10 leading scoring offensive output by posting the second-most goals in a game this season. During the current win streak, the Minutewomen have tallied a total of 21 goals in that span. Overall this year, UMass has 24 goals on the year after just seven games which matches the total number of goals for all of last season.
With a 21-1 goal differential over the last four games, the Minutewomen are having their best offensive stretch since the 1997 squad's 24-2 effort over the first six games of that season.
Eastern Michigan (5-4-0) was riding a four-match win streak entering Sunday's match which included a 1-0 win at Connecticut on Friday night.
UMass held a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute of play thanks to Hipp's first goal of the game with the Minutewomen holding that lead at intermission.

The Eagles cracked the scoreboard in the 73rd minute on a well-timed header by Marla Cobetto, but UMass added goals in the 83rd minute by Rebeca Frisk and in the 87th and 90th minutes by Bonavita.
Bonavita, Frisk and Doster each added assists on the day as well.
Peyton Ryan played the full 90 minutes in goal making four saves including several diving stops for the win. Her counterpart Kaylin Williams took the loss making four saves while allowing three goals in 58 minutes. She was relieved by Mabel Dunn who close the match with two saves while allowing three goals in 32 minutes.
Overall, UMass held a 22-to-9 advantage in shots, while both teams had six corner kicks on the day.
The Minutewomen will next play at home on Thursday, Sept. 20 as UMass opens Atlantic 10 play against Duquesne (4 PM). Admission is free and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription).
