Moreau, Murphy Named To USA Lacrosse Under-19 Tryout Pool

UMass lacrosse duo will compete for a spot on the Under-19 National Team this August.
AMHERST, Mass. – Rising sophomore Ally Murphy and incoming freshman Amy Moreau have been named to the United States Under-19 National Team tryout pool as announced by U.S. Lacrosse last week. The duo are part of 109 players from across the country selected to attend the camp held August 10-12 at U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
Murphy played in 15 games for the Minutewomen this past spring scoring eight goals while adding three assists. The midfielder also had 15 draw controls, eight groundballs and four caused turnovers in her first collegiate season. A native of Wantagh, N.Y., Murphy helped Wantagh High School win three New York state championship titles.
Moreau enters UMass this fall after an accomplished career at Schuylerville High School where she earned All-American and Academic All-American honors following her senior campaign this spring. Moreau set the scoring record for Schuylerville with 293 career goals and 103 assists.
A Player Identification Committee that included US Lacrosse Women's High Performance Committee Chair Anne Phillips, U.S U19 head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, U19 assistant coaches Ann Elliott, Brooke Matthews, Angela McMahon (head coach at UMass), U19 team assistant manager Meredith Frank McGinnis, U.S. senior team head coach Jenny Levy and eight regional recruiting coordinators determined the list of players invited to tryouts from a pool of more than 500 applicants.
The pool of 109 players has players from 16 states and includes six players that just finished their freshman season of college lacrosse, 48 high school seniors, 35 high school juniors and 20 high school sophomores from the 2017-18 academic year.
