Parking Advisory for UMass-Fordham Series
Fans should note that University of Massachusetts baseball's series with Fordham coincides with the university's 2018 commencement exercises. Traffic throughout campus and the Amherst area will be heavy throughout the weekend, particularly on Fri., May 11 and Sat., May 12 and road detours will be in place. Additionally, Lot 67 adjacent to Earl Lorden Field will be unavailable for parking during the series. As an alternative, fans can park in the gravel lot located next to the Mullins Center Tennis Courts and just Southwest of Earl Lorden Field.

Batting Practice
University of Massachusetts baseball closes the book on the 2018 home schedule this weekend with a three-game series against Atlantic 10 foe Fordham. Friday's series opener is slated for a 3 p.m. start while Saturday and Sunday's games will begin at 1 p.m. and 12:05 p.m., respectively.

Prior to Sunday's matchup, UMass will recognize and thank its six-man Class of 2018, which includes Brett Evangelista, Kevin Hassett, Scott Hovey, Keith Linnane, Andrew Noonan and Dylan Robinson.

Would You Like Fries With That?
Marcus Fry had an explosive stretch at the plate last week, hitting .389 with three doubles, a grand slam and 10 RBIs. The sophomore pushed his hitting streak to seven consecutive games and also has an extra-base hit in three of UMass' last four contests. That was highlighted by a 3-for-5 performance against Hartford (Tues., May 1) in which Fry finished just a triple short of the cycle. On that night, Fry's six runs batted in set a single-game career high and were the most in one contest by a Minuteman this season.

Fry's second year in Amherst has been witness to a .283 batting average, in addition to the first three home runs and nine doubles of his career. His 21 RBIs this season rank second on the team.

Notes From The Rubber
Justin Lasko went 7.2 innings and struck out seven on Sat., May 5 against Stony Brook en route to his fourth victory of the season. The junior allowed just two earned runs on seven hits and surrendered only one walk.

The junior and Stratford, Connecticut product had two different stints in Summer 2017 with the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He went 2-0 in his four starts, tossing 19.1 innings and stringing together a 2.79 ERA against some of the nation's top bats.

Putting In Your 'Hart' And Soul
Specifically against Atlantic 10 opponents, Eddy Hart is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak and has recorded a hit in 14 of UMass' last 16 contests against A-10 foes. Originally from Middleboro, Massachusetts, that stretch includes Hart's first three home runs of his career as well as a Fri., April 13 performance against Rhode Island in which he finished just a triple short of the cycle.

Hart (9) and Ryan Lever (14) boast the longest overall hitting streaks amongst the Minutemen thus far in 2018.

Excuse Me Your Honor, [Seven] Youths
To this point in 2018, seven different freshmen have seen game action for the Minutemen. On the mound, the class has in part been highlighted by Natick, Massachusetts native Sean Harney. Half of Harney's 10 appearances have been starts, with opposing hitters collectively hitting .210 and striking out 31 times, the latter of which is third among the Minutemen.

Harney took a no-hitter into the sixth inning against Rhode Island on Sat., April 14. The following Saturday against La Salle (April 21), Harney dealt 6.2 innings of two-run ball while tying his single-game career high with six strikeouts.

Call Them The Comeback Kids
In a sweep of Bucknell from March 12-14, Massachusetts was forced to come from behind in each of the three matchups. The last time the Minutemen eliminated consecutive deficits en route to a three-game series sweep was on May 8 and May 9, 2001, when UMass claimed both doubleheader tilts against Saint Joseph's (13-8 and 9-5) before posting an 11-9 triumph to close the weekend.

That year the Maroon and White won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship after going 16-6 in the league, ultimately finishing the campaign with an overall record of 27-19.

Not To Be Confused With Brothers Osborne
The Minuteman pitching staff features one set of twin brothers in sophomores Brooks Knapek and Carter Knapek. The duo threw back-to-back in a win over Central Connecticut on Sun., March 11, with Brooks earning the win after four no-hit innings of relief, during which he struck In tout four and surrendered just one walk. Carter then entered for the ninth and collected his first career save. That capped a strong day on the mound for the Minutemen as Justin Lasko started on the hill, striking out five over his four innings of work.

Welcome Back, Coach
A former UMass infielder and captain, head coach Matt Reynolds returns to the Pioneer Valley after three years (2015-17) guiding Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and seven seasons as an assistant coach at Navy (2008-14).

Prior to Navy, Reynolds served as a graduate assistant under Mike Stone at UMass for three seasons (2005-07). He played his final two collegiate seasons in Amherst after transferring from the University of Maine. He earned Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team honors in 2003 and was named the Minutemen's Most Valuable Player the following year.

On Deck
Massachusetts closes the regular season next week with a trip to Fairfield on Tues., May 15 and a three-game series at Saint Joseph's from Thurs., May 17-Sat., May 19.
