Keane Tabbed A-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Senior leads defense in pair of league wins to start A-10 schedule.
AMHERST, Mass. - After anchoring the UMass women's lacrosse defense in a pair of league wins to start the Atlantic 10 schedule, senior Kasey Keane was selected as the A-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The two wins for the Minutewomen improved the squad to 7-3 overall and extended their NCAA record to 56 consecutive league wins dating back to 2011.
The Westwood, Mass., native finished the weekend with seven caused turnovers, six groundballs and a draw control. The four goals allowed to Davidson marked a season-low for the defense which also held the Wildcats scoreless in the first half. Against Saint Joseph's, Keane caused four turnovers, collected three groundballs and controlled one draw. She followed that effort with three caused turnovers and three groundballs in the win over Davidson.
Through 10 games this season, Keane has already posted career numbers with a team-best 28 caused turnovers and 36 groundballs. With 2.60 groundballs per game this spring, the senior ranks third in the A-10 and ninth overall nationally. Her 3.4 groundballs also ranks third in the league and is 20th nationally.
The Minutewomen return to Garber Field for a pair of Atlantic 10 games this weekend starting with a Friday match-up against St. Bonaventure (3 PM) before then hosting La Salle on Sunday (1 PM). Admission to both contests is free to all while each will also be streamed online via the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
