UMass Women’s Lacrosse Places Two On U.S. National Team Spring Rosters

Alumna Kelsey Sheridan named to U.S. Senior Team, Sophomore Ally Murphy selected to U.S. Under-19 Team.
AMHERST, Mass. – Alumna Kelsey Sheridan and sophomore Ally Murphy have been selected to take part in the Spring Premiere event for the United States Women's Lacrosse National Teams this January. Sheridan earned a spot on the 26-player U.S. National Team, while Murphy is one of 34 on the U.S. Under-19 National Team.
The event takes place from Jan. 25-27 at Stanford University. Both teams will compete against England, Japan, Fresno State and Stanford. The complete schedule and ticket information will be announced soon.
A 2014 alum, Sheridan most recently earned a spot on the United States National Women's Lacrosse team in June 2016. The defender became the ninth Minutewoman to earn a spot on either the U.S. National Team or the former Development/Elite squads.
As a senior in 2014, Sheridan earned IWLCA All-Region First Team, Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and Atlantic 10 All-Academic accolades. She was also named the MVP of the North/South Senior All-Star Game. She finished her career with 115 groundballs, 100 draw controls and 62 caused turnovers in 66 games.
Murphy played in 15 games for the Minutewomen last spring scoring eight goals while adding three assists. The midfielder also had 15 draw controls, eight groundballs and four caused turnovers in her first collegiate season. A native of Wantagh, N.Y., Murphy helped Wantagh High School win three New York state championship titles.
While playing for the U.S. Under-19 National Team, Murphy will be joined by a familiar face as UMass head coach Angela McMahon serves as an assistant coach for the U-19 staff.
