Four Minutemen Earn All-Atlantic 10 Honors

DeAndrae Brown and Konrad Gorich were both selected to the all-conference second-team.
AMHERST, Mass. – Four University of Massachusetts men's soccer players were named to Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams as announced by the league on Thursday morning. DeAndrae Brown and Konrad Gorich were both tabbed to the All-Atlantic 10 Second-Team while Yosuke Hanya was named to the All-Rookie Team and Davis Smith to the All-Academic squad.
Brown (Springfield, Mass.) was named second-team all-conference as he put home nine goals on his way to 19 points as he finished tied for third among A-10 leaders in goals after the regular-season finale. The forward scored two goals in a win over Bryant early in the season and scored four goals in a three-game span in league play to help UMass to a 2-1-0 record during, finding the back of the net twice at home against George Mason and once each on the road at Fordham and Rhode Island. Brown scored four game-winning goals on the year, ranking him ninth all-time at UMass in the category and tied for third-most in a single season.
Gorich (Eberbach, Germany) earned second-team honors for the second straight season, starting seven games and appearing in eight after returning from an early season enjoy. The defender scored a goal as he finished his career with five to go along with three assists for 13 points in 42 games over three seasons. The 2017 A-10 All-Tournament selection scored a goal on the road at Rhode Island and helped anchor a UMass defense that shutout George Mason at home and Fordham on the road.
Hanya (Tokyo, Japan) was tabbed to the A-10 All-Rookie team after he dished out a tied for team-high in assists with five during his first season in Amherst. The midfielder scored a goal and picked up an assist in a tournament-clinching win over George Washington in the season finale on his way to finishing with seven points to rank fourth in the squad in the category.
Smith (Amherst, Mass.) earned Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team honors after ranking second on the team in goals and points while tying for the team lead in assists with five during his sophomore campaign. The forward scored in three consecutive games as he finished with five on the year, capping off the scoring span with a goal in the A-10 opener against St. Bonaventure. The 2017 A-10 Rookie of the Year scored a goal and added an assist in a tournament-clinching win at George Washington.
The Minutemen finished the 2018 campaign with a 7-8-3 overall record as they qualified for their fourth consecutive A-10 Tournament for just the second time in program history (1999-2002).
