Last Time Out
UMass is looking to bounce back after a tough 1-0 home loss to George Mason and a 1-1 road overtime draw at Fordham last week. The results moved the Minutewomen into fourth place in the A-10 standings. Erin Doster scored in the 87th minute at Fordham with a dramatic 1-on-3 rainbow goal from nearly 30 yards out helping UMass force the overtime and earn the draw. In Sunday's match, physical play dominated the game with 42 fouls being called between both sides. Mason notched a goal early in the second half after weathering numerous chances by UMass in the first. Unable to find the equalizer, the loss snapped the Minutewomen's nine match unbeaten streak.
Best Win Streak Since 1997
The eight-match win streak matched the longest since the 1997 squad did the same. The 4-0 start to A-10 play was also the best since that season which saw the Minutewomen post a perfect 11-0 record in league play. UMass' win streak was the fourth longest in the country until the draw at Fordham.
Leading The A-10 And The NCAA
Through 13 matches, UMass is putting up prolific numbers this year. As a team, UMass leads the A-10 in 11 different statistical categories including scoring offense (2.46 goals/game) which also ranks 14th nationally. The Minutewomen lead the league in goals-against-average which is 17th in the NCAA (0.53 GAA). Nationally, UMass is sixth in total points (104), 20th in total goals (32) and fourth in total assists (40). Individually, Peyton Ryan leads the league in GAA (0.56), which is 25th nationally, and save percentage (0.841). Erin Doster ranks second in the A-10 in total assists, while Lauren Bonavita (16) is seventh in total points followed by Rebeca Frisk and Jenny Hipp who are eighth (15).
Next Up
Following Sunday's Senior Day match against VCU, UMass will host Saint Louis in the regular-season home finale on Thursday, Oct. 18 (3 PM, ESPN+) before heading to Dayton on Sunday, Oct. 21 (1 PM) for the final match before the postseason. The top eight teams in the regular-season A-10 standings will qualify for the league tournament with the top four seeds earning a home quarterfinal match (Oct. 27-28) with the semifinals and championship match being hosted at Dayton on Nov. 2 and Nov. 4, respectively.

"Control the controllables" is our motto at @UMassWSoccer. In-spite of plenty of outside influences yesterday that impacted the outcome of our match I remain so proud of this squad and the brand of football we are playing. Time to tighten the screws and get back on track. #ALLiN https://t.co/Jnewy93pgZ
