Six Match Home Stand Starts Friday For Women's Soccer

September 07, 2017 | Women's Soccer

Minutewomen host Delaware at Rudd Field starting at 4 PM.

AMHERST, Mass. - A six-match home stand for the UMass women's soccer team begins Friday afternoon as the Minutewomen host Delaware at Rudd Field. Kick-off is set for 4 PM and the game will be streamed online via the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.

UMass (1-3-0) is coming off its first win of the season last Sunday - a thrilling 2-1 overtime win against Maine at Thornton Academy in Saco. Salma Anastasio scored the Golden Goal just under two minutes into the extra time while also setting up the equalizing goal late in regulation. She was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week and the UMass Co-Athlete of the Week for her efforts.

The Blue Hens are currently 2-2-1 to start the season and are riding a three-match unbeaten streak after a draw at Saint Joseph's followed by wins over Marist and Lehigh. Hannah Specht and Olivia Schuck each have two goals to lead the Delaware offense while three other players have also scored this season.

The meeting will be the first ever between the two sides.

Following Friday's match, the Minutewomen will return home on Sunday to host Holy Cross. The Crusaders will be coming off a road game on Friday afternoon before visiting Rudd Field at 3 PM on Sunday. UMass leads the all-time series with Holy Cross 8-1-0 including last year's 2-0 win in Worcester.
