Offensive Outburst As Women's Soccer Downs St. Bona 3-0

Minutewomen pick up big road win improving to 2-1-0 in league play.
OLEAN, N.Y. - A pair of quick first half tallies set the tone early as the UMass women's soccer team picked up a 3-0 win at St. Bonaventure on Thursday night at the Marra Athletic Complex. UMass scored in the third and 12th minutes of the match to cruise to the shutout win to start the second week of league play.
The victory improves UMass to 5-5-1 overall and 2-1-0 in Atlantic 10 action. The Minutewomen will return to action on Sunday in Richmond, Va., to close out the road trip at VCU (2 PM). The match will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
In Thursday's action, Gabriella Kenyon tallied her first goal of the season in the third minute giving UMass an early 1-0 lead. That was doubled in the 12th minute when Jenny Hipp scored on a low line-drive shot adding to her assist on the match's opening goal.
After taking the lead into halftime, Erin Doster scored in the 47th minute with her career-best fifth of the year putting UMass up 3-0. UMass nearly tacked on a fourth goal in the 76th minute on a 2-on-1 play in transition, but the shot slide just left of frame.
Overall in the match, UMass held a 16-to-14 advantage in shots on goal, though the Bonnies (0-10-2, 0-2-1 A-10) on put two on target. The Minutewomen also held a 8-to-4 edge in corners for the night.
Cassidy Babin made two saves in goal for her 15th career shutout, while her counterpart for St. Bonaventure, Lauren Malcolm, made six saves.
