First Half Goals Lead Brown Past Women's Soccer, 2-0

Bears snap Minutewomen's three-match unbeaten streak.
AMHERST, Mass. - A pair of first half goals proved the difference maker on Thursday night as Brown handed the UMass women's soccer team a 2-0 loss at Rudd Field. The result snapped a three-match unbeaten streak for the Minutewomen who will return home on Sunday to host Yale at 2 PM.
UMass falls to 2-4-1 on the year, while Brown improves to 5-2-0 overall with the win. The Minutewomen's match on Sunday against the Bulldogs will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network and attendance is free to all.
In Thursday's match, Brown opened the scoring in the 16th minute of play as Mikela Waldman curled a strike from 20 yards out into the far post. The Bears tacked on their second goal on a one-timer from the top of the 18-yard box by Brittany Montgomery with just three seconds to go before hafltime.
Keeper Cassidy Babin made nine saves for the Minutewomen, while her counterpart Christine Etzel made six for the Bears.
Overall for the match, Brown held a 16-to-11 advantage in shots, while corners were even between the two sides at four each.
