Dartmouth Holds Off Men's Soccer, 1-0

Minutemen unable to find equalizer after Big Green tally goal in 18th minute.
HANOVER, N.H. - A header by Wyatt Omsberg in the 18th minute of play proved the difference maker as the UMass men's soccer team fell on the road at Dartmouth, 1-0, on Tuesday night at Burnham Field.
The loss dropped the Minutemen to 3-2-1 overall who host Colgate on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Rudd Field. Kick-off is set for 1 PM and the match will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network. Admission is free to all.
Omsberg put Dartmouth (2-2-0) up after heading home a free kick by Dawson McCartney who drew a foul just off the end line and about eight yards in from the sideline. He lifted a service that curled away from the back post finding Omsberg who headed the ball inside the near post for the go-ahead goal.
One of the Minutemen's best chances came in the 85th minute when Bardia Asefnia launched a free kick from near the top of his 18-yard box that was flicked forward by Davis Smith just past the midfield line. His pass forward cleared the defense just as Jack Fulton made a run 30-yards away from goal. Fulton collected the pass and was one-on-one with Dartmouth keeper Chris Palacios, but offsides was called to negate the opportunity.
Dartmouth held a 10-to-4 advantage in shots and a 7-to-3 edge in corner kicks for the match. Asefnia made two saves in goal for the Minutemen, while Palacios was not call upon to make any official saves.
