Marra's Goal Sparks Women's Soccer Over Holy Cross, 1-0

Minutewomen riding three-match unbeaten streak.
AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Kelly Marra had her first collegiate goal stand as the game-winner helping the UMass women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field. The win extends the Minutewomen's unbeaten streak to three matches and was the first home win of the year.
UMass (2-3-1) will next be in action on Thursday, Sept. 14 as Brown visits Rudd Field for a 4 PM match before then also hosting Yale on Sunday (2 PM) as part of the Minutewomen's six game homestand.
After a back-and-forth opening to Sunday's match, Marra opened the scoring with a header in the 44th minute of play. The score came off a corner kick service from Paige Kozlowski which Marra buried inside the near post.
The second half saw the Crusaders search for the equalizer, but UMass keeper Cassidy Babin made six of her nine saves in that stanza to preserve the clean sheet.
Overall in the match, UMass held a slight 16-to-15 advantage in shots and a 5-to-3 edge in corner kicks.
Holy Cross keeper Caroline Cashion made six saves for the Crusaders.
