Burnett, Women's Lacrosse Earn IWLCA Academic Awards

Minutewomen honored for academic work during 2016-17 academic year.
AMHERST, Mass. - After a solid year in the classroom in addition to the field, the UMass women's lacrosse team was honored on Wednesday afternoon as an IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad while rising senior Hannah Burnett was named to the Academic Honor Roll.
As a team, the Minutewomen posted above a 3.0 grade point average for the 2016-17 academic year. Burnett earned the individual honor, eligible for juniors or seniors, after recording a cumulative GPA over a 3.5 in her collegiate career.
All told on the Division I Academic Honor Roll, the IWLCA honored 402 student-athletes from 102 different institutions. For the Academic Honor Squads, the IWLCA has named 308 schools across Division I, II, III for the 2016-17 academic year.
UMass finished the 2017 campaign with a 17-4 overall record and its seventh consecutive perfect run through Atlantic 10 play (9-0). The Minutewomen captured their ninth straight (10th overall) Atlantic 10 Championship title before advancing to the NCAA Tournament Second Round following a win over No. 10 Colorado.
