Senior had dominant performance in helping women's lacrosse team go unbeaten in league play.

AMHERST, Mass. - After helping the UMass women's lacrosse team to a 25-12 win last Saturday at Duquesne, senior midfielder Hannah Murphy was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The win marked the seventh consecutive season for UMass (14-3, 9-0 A-10) to go unbeaten in league play while also extending its NCAA record to 54 straight conference wins.

In the win at Duquesne, the Duxbury, Mass., native scored five goals, added an assist, and controlled 16 draws while adding two groundballs and two caused turnovers. The 16 draws were just two shy of her career-best and the second-most for a game in program history. Four of her draws led directly to goals with her total offensive output accounting for 10 of the school-record tying 25 goals on the day.

Murphy and the Minutewomen earned the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament. UMass will play this Friday against the Thursday quarterfinal winner of George Mason/Davidson. The Minutewomen will be seeking their ninth consecutive Atlantic 10 title and 10th overall. The Atlantic 10 champion will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

UMass has not lost an Atlantic 10 game since 2010 and has been the top seed for eight of the last nine A-10 Championships. The Minutewomen are led by a balanced scoring effort, highlighted by Holly Turner and Hannah Burnett, who have 74 and 66 points, respectively. Defensively, four-time A-10 Defender of the Week, Sarah Crowley leads the squad with a UMass single-season record 43 caused turnovers.
