Hannah Murphy selected to second-team, Sarah Crowley to third-team.

AMHERST, Mass. - After a standout season, UMass women's lacrosse seniors Hannah Murphy (Duxbury, Mass.) and Sarah Crowley (Greenlawn, N.Y.) were named IWLCA All-Americans as announced on Wednesday afternoon. Murphy was honored with a second-team selection, while Crowley was named to the third team.

This marks the fourth time in program history that the Minutewomen have placed multiple players on All-America teams: 1987, 2013, 2016, 2017. For Murphy, this was also the second consecutive year to earn the accolade after being named a Third-Team All-American last year.

Crowley anchored the UMass defense and while also adding an offensive touch after scoring the game-winning goal in the league's time game. She set a UMass single-season record with 46 caused turnovers as part of a team single-season record of 244. She set a single-game record for the Minutewomen with six caused turnovers against Marist this year. The senior was named to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region First-Team, the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-Atlantic 10 First Team. Prior to the All-American honor, the senior was named the ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was a selection to the All-ECAC First-Team.

A Tewaaraton Watch List selection to start the year, Murphy led the midfield unit with 64 points on 47 goals and 17 assists. She is the nation's leading draw specialists with 212 this season – a total that stands as a UMass record, an Atlantic 10 record, and the third most in NCAA history for a single season. She also ranks third all-time in career draw controls (522) which is also a UMass record. She earned her third consecutive IWLCA All-Northeast Region honor this year and was picked as the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year for the third time as well. In the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament, Murphy was chosen as the A-10 Tournament MVP. Murphy was also named to the All-ECAC Second-Team just prior to the All-America announcement.

UMass finished the 2017 campaign with a 17-4 overall record and its seventh consecutive perfect run through Atlantic 10 play (9-0). The Minutewomen captured their ninth straight (10th overall) Atlantic 10 Championship title before advancing to the NCAA Tournament Second Round following a win over No. 10 Colorado.
