Batting Practice 
- This weekend Massachusetts baseball travels to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for an Atlantic 10 Conference series against the La Salle Explorers. The games are set for 3 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Recap in a Minute 
- The Minutemen traveled to Storrs, Connecticut on Tuesday afternoon to take on the University of Connecticut. The Huskies topped the Minutemen by a score of 11-3, propelled by seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Ryan Lever finished 2-for-4 on the plate in the contest, while Cooper Mrowka was 2-for-3 as the pair combined for four of the Minutemen's six hits on the afternoon.
- On Wednesday, the Minutemen headed to Boston to take on Northeastern at Fenway Park in a Beanpot Consolation game. The Minutemen used a six-run bottom of the fourth to rally for a 6-5 win over the Huskies in a seven-inning contest. UMass finished the contest with seven hits, led by Jon Avallone and Mike Geannelis who both went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Scouting La Salle
- La Salle (7-27, 1-8 A-10) was most recently in action on Tuesday, winning 2-1 against Penn. This past weekend, the Explorers were swept in a three-game series at Miami (Ohio).
- With 40 hits in 127 at bats, junior infielder Austin Constantini leads the Explorers offense through there 34 games so far with a .315 batting average. Sophomore Ben Faso (.306) has also had a productive bat for La Salle, leading the team with eight doubles, five home runs and 20 RBI.
 - On the mound, freshman RHP Matt Holt (2-1) has been effective from the starting role this season. Over the course of nine appearances and six starts, Holt has struck out 37 batters in 36.0 innings pitched.
- La Salle alum Mike Lake is now in his 10th season directing the Explorers baseball program. Prior to taking the reins for the 2008 season, Lake was an assistant coach at La Salle for four seasons. During his tenure, he has helped his team to three Atlantic 10 Tournament berths, tallied nine All-A-10 Conference honorees and guided six players to selection in the MLB Draft. 

Getting It Done In The Classroom
- Eight members of the UMass baseball team were recognized last month for their academic success with placement on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll. In total, UMass as an institution had 165 student-athletes earn a spot on the list.

Set in `Stone'
- The winningest head coach in team history, UMass skipper Mike Stone embarks on his 30th season directing the Minutemen baseball program. In the summer of 2016, Stone announced that he would retire from coaching following the 2017 season. During his career in Amherst, Stone has helped UMass to 688 victories with eight Atlantic 10 regular season championships, along with two A-10 postseason titles and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. Nearly 40 of his former players have gone on to play professional baseball.
 
Nine is Fine
- Throughout the 2017 season, the Minutemen will play in nine different states: North Carolina, Florida, Massachusetts, Virginia, Kentucky, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and New York. After this trip, UMass will have played in seven of these states.

On Deck 
-On Wednesday, the Minutemen return home for five straight games at Earl Lorden Field. Quinnipiac visits at 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, before Atlantic 10 Conference play starts back up with weekend series against Dayton. The contests are set for 3 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday. On Tuesday May 2, UMass will then take on Hartford at home at 3 p.m.
