Colleran, Santos Named Co-Student-Athletes of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Athletics has selected Meg Colleran and Callie Santos as its Student-Athletes of the Week for April 3-9.
Colleran, a junior from North Attleboro, Massachusetts, threw three complete games and 3.1 innings of relief as softball went 3-2 last week vs. Fairleigh Dickinson and at Saint Louis. She struck out 21 batters and posted an ERA of 0.60 in five appearances. Colleran collected wins in game two vs. Fairleigh Dickinson and in game one at Saint Louis. She picked up her first save of the season in game two with the Bilikens, pitching two innings of relief for a 4-2 UMass victory. On the season, Colleran holds an 8-9 record with 11 complete games and 98.2 innings pitched.
Santos, a senior from Bedford, New Hampshire, paced women's lacrosse to a 2-0 week with wins at Davidson (16-6) and at home over Richmond (19-13) as the Minutewomen improved to 4-0 this year in A-10 play. The attack notched 10 points on eight goals and two assists while also adding two draw controls and a caused turnover. In the road win at Davidson, she had a pair of goals and an assist along with a caused turnover. In the win over Richmond, also undefeated in league games entering Sunday, the senior had a career-highs in goals (six) and points (seven) along with two draw controls. After the Spiders had pulled within three, 14-11, midway through the second half, Santos scored three goals in 84 seconds to put UMass back up by six with 12 minutes to go. Santos picked up her assist in the Richmond game on a goal just after her three-score outburst which gave UMass a seven-goal lead to set-up the win.
