Women’s Lax Returns Home to Host UConn on Sunday

Minutewomen and Huskies set for 1 p.m. opening draw at Garber Field.
AMHERST, Mass. – After a three-game road swing that concluded last week at No. 5 Syracuse, the UMass women's lacrosse team returns to the friendly confines of Garber Field on Sunday, March 5 to host Connecticut. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
Admission and parking are both free to all.
The Minutewomen fell at the No. 5 Orange, 17-8, last Saturday and sit 1-3 to start the season. In the game against Cuse, Kiley Anderson led UMass offensively with a career-high four goals. Sarah Crowley anchored the defensive unit with eight groundballs, four caused turnovers and three draw controls while Lauren Hiller made 11 saves in goal.
Holly Turner leads the Minutewomen offensively with 13 points on seven goals and six assists followed by Hannah Murphy who has seven goals and three assists for 10 points. Murphy, who was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List on Tuesday, has a team-best 24 draw controls this year as well. Her 334 career draw controls are currently tied as the 10th-most in the history of the NCAA.
Hiller has been the goalie of record with a 14.79 goals-against-average and a 0.398 save percentage to start the year.
UMass is 9-3 all-time against UConn having won the last five straight games including the 2015 match-up that was decided in double-overtime on Turner's second-career goal.
UConn enters the game with a 2-2 record after defeating New Hampshire 13-9 last Sunday. The Huskies also played Boston College with the Eagles picking up a 14-11 win in Storrs on Feb. 22.
Grace Nolan leads the squad with 20 points on 12 goals and eight assists while Jacqueline Jordan has nine goals and five assists. The Huskies are back-stopped by Grace Beshlian who has an 11.50 goals-against-average and a 0.465 save percentage as the goalie of record.
Following the Sunday match-up, UMass will head to New Hampshire on Friday, March 10 for a 2 p.m. contest.
