Back Home As Women's Soccer Host Pair Of A-10 Matches

Minutewomen take on Rhode Island on Thursday (4 PM), La Salle on Sunday (1 PM).
AMHERST, Mass. - After a four-point road swing last week, the UMass women's soccer team returns to Rudd Field this week for a pair of Atlantic 10 matches against Rhode Island on Thursday (4 PM) and La Salle on Sunday (1 PM). Both matches are free to attend and will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
Through two weeks of league action, the Minutewomen (5-5-2, 2-1-1 A-10) are currently in a three-way tie for fifth-place in the A-10 standings. Rhode Island enters Thursday's match-up with a 3-9 overall record and a 0-4 mark in league play, while the Explorers currently lead the Atlantic 10 with a 9-3-1 overall record and a 4-0-0 record in A-10 action.
Last week, UMass picked up a 3-0 win at St. Bonaventure before forcing a 0-0 draw at VCU on Sunday. Jenny Hipp was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, while Cassidy Babin added two more shutouts giving her four for the season. The results continue the Minutewomen's mid-season surge boasting a record of 5-2-2 over the last night games.
Erin Doster continues to lead the Minutewomen offensively with five goals and 11 points through 12 games. Hipp has caught fire of late with a pair of goals and three assists, while Sini Laaksonen and Kelly Marra each have two goals.
Babin has started all 12 games in goal for UMass with a 1.28 goals-against-average and a 0.807 save percentage - the best of her career as a full-time starter. The senior needs just 30 more minutes of playing time to reach 5,000 for her career.
