Key Matches On Tap For Women's Soccer This Week

Minutemen head to Saint Louis, host Dayton as race for post-season heats up.
AMHERST, Mass. - It is a pivotal week for the UMass women's soccer team as the Minutewomen head to Saint Louis on Thursday night (8 PM) before returning to Rudd Field to host Dayton on Sunday afternoon (1 PM). The final weekend of the regular-season is as close as ever as all eight spots in the Atlantic 10 Tournament are up for grabs.
UMass enters the week ranked seventh currently with 13 points (7-7-2, 4-3-1 A-10), while Saint Louis sits in second place in the standings with 19 points (14-1-2, 6-1-1 A-10). Dayton is in ninth place with eight points (7-8-2, 2-4-2 A-10) and seeking to make up ground to be among the eight post-season teams. Also on the line for UMass is a spot in the top four which, in a new twist this year, will host the bottom four teams in the standings for the first round at campus sites. The Minutewomen currently need four points, plus help, to move into the fourth hosting spot.
Erin Doster leads the squad offensively with seven goals and an assist for 15 points. Kelly Marra ranks second on the team with three goals, while four different Minutewomen have tallied a pair of goals. Doster is coming off a two goal match in the road win at Duquesne, while Sini Laaksonen has all eight of her points over the last eight matches. Centerback Jenna Thomas has also found the offensive touch lately with a pair of goals and pair of assists over the last four games.
Defensively, Cassidy Babin has started every match in goal with a 1.49 goals-against-average and a 0.776 save percentage with five shutouts following the Duquesne win.
Prior to Sunday's match, the Minutewomen will honor its 2017 senior class of Salma Anastasio, Cassidy Babin, Danielle Farano, Gabriela Kenyon, and Natalie Perussault.
