Minutewomen take on Explorers Thursday night before heading to Richmond on Sunday.

AMHERST, Massachusetts - After an 11-day break, the UMass women's soccer team will return to action this Thursday night at La Salle to begin Atlantic 10 action. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start in Philadelphia and will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network. The Minutewomen (2-4-1) will remain on the road during the weekend heading to Richmond on Sunday afternoon (1 p.m.).

The two matches are part of an extended four-game road swing for UMass before returning to Rudd Field on Oct. 6 and Oct. 9 to host George Mason and George Washington, respectively.

In the NCAA RPI released last week, UMass ranked 105th nationally placing them fifth among Atlantic 10 teams and among the top third nationally. The tough non-conference slate, while not bearing out in the overall record, should prepare the Minutewomen to make a push during the conference season for a qualifying spot in the postseason tournament.

Through the first seven games, Gabriela Kenyon led UMass with two goals scored. Rebeca Frisk and Megan Burke accounted for the Minutewomen's other goals. Salma Anastasio leads the club with two assists. Defensively, Cassidy Babin has been the goalie of record with a 1.80 goals-against-average and a 0.705 save percentage.

La Salle enters the week with a 2-6-0 overall record having lost four straight. Eight different Explorers have scored goals this season paced by Deja Davis and Maci Bower who each have two. Larisa Zambelli has started all eight contests in goal with a 2.34 goals-against-average and a 0.698 save percentage.

Richmond enters the weekend with a 5-3-1 overall record following a loss to No. 4 West Virginia last Friday. The Spiders have gone 1-2-1 over the last four matches with their other loss to No. 3 Virginia. Lexi Prillaman leads the squad with nine goals and three assists, while Meaghan Carrigan is just behind with seven goals and two assists. Three different goalkeepers have started matches with Carlie Blessing having started the last three. Blessing has a 2.69 goals-against-average and a 0.677 save percentage in four overall games this year.
