AMHERST, Mass. – Seeking its ninth straight Atlantic 10 Championship title this spring, the UMass women's lacrosse team announced its 2017 schedule on Tuesday. The Minutewomen will begin the campaign on Feb. 7 against Boston College to kick off the new season.
UMass is coming off a 20-2 season in 2016 which saw the Maroon and White advance to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 1984 while also reaching the national tournament for the eighth-straight season. The 20 wins tied the program record for victories in a single season.
In addition to hosting the Eagles at Garber Field, the Minutewomen will also host Connecticut on March 5 and Marist on March 25 before opening Atlantic 10 play.
Highlights of the road schedule include a trip to Florida to play both Colorado and Jacksonville (Feb. 17 and Feb. 19) followed by a road trip to Syracuse which is coming off a 2016 Final Four appearance.
League play will begin with a pair of home games against VCU and Saint Joseph's on March 31 and April 2. UMass will also host rival Richmond (April 9), George Washington (April 21) and George Mason (April 23).
The Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament will be held May 4-7 at Saint Joseph's Sweeney Field in Philadelphia.
