Meet The Freshmen - Hailey Leidel

Get to know the Atlantic 10's top scoring freshman as Hailey Leidel shares her story.
AMHERST, Mass. - In the newest episode of our Get To Know series, freshman guard Hailey Leidel sits down with the UMass Sports Network to share insight into where she's from, her basketball career and what she hopes to add to the UMass women's basketball team.
The native of Brownstown, Mich., has already made an instant impact on the team as the program's leading scorer this season. At 17 points per game, she is also the leading rookie scorer in the Atlantic 10 Conference having been named the A-10 Rookie of the Week twice already.
Her biggest shot of the season came against Montana as she drilled a buzzer-beating three-pointer to give UMass a 59-58 win over the Lady Griz in the Hawkeye Challenge.
UMass will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 4 when A-10 rival George Mason visits the Mullins Center for a 1 p.m. tip-off. Several promotions are on tap including Girl Scouts Day, National Cookie Day and a Sunglasses Give-A-Way.
