Davidson Finds Goal in 100th Minute to Down Women's Soccer, 1-0

Wildcats score with 6.1 seconds left in first OT period to hand Minutewomen road loss.
DAVIDSON, N.C. - Maggie Boyd scored with 6.1 seconds left in the first overtime period as Davidson defeated the UMass women's soccer team 1-0 on Thursday night. The loss drops the Minutewomen to 2-9-1 overall and 0-5-0 in the Atlantic 10.
Boyd was able to break free for the Wildcats in the UMass 18-yard box where she fired a shot into the far post in the 100th minute of play for her third score of the season.
The Minutewomen had several quality chances throughout the match including a pair of shots from Daniela Alvarez and Natalie Perusault which rang off the crossbar.
In the final minute of regulation, UMass was able to generate three opportunities on goal with a pair of shots and a corner kick, but could not find the go-ahead marker.
Keeper Cassidy Babin made five saves in the match to hold Davidson at bay until Boyd's Golden Goal.
For the night, UMass outshot the Wildcats 17-to-15 and held a 4-to-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Minutewomen will return to New England to face long-time rival Rhode Island on Sunday afternoon in Kingston. The match will be streamed online on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
