Men's Soccer Falls To Vermont, 3-0

AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts Minutemen fell to the Vermont Catamounts, 3-0 on Friday at Rudd Field in Amherst.
The Minutemen, now 1-8-0 in 2015, play again on Sunday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Brown for their final non-conference game of the season. They're back at Rudd Field on October 7 when they play host to Rhode Island.
Vermont, now 4-3-0, scored 33 seconds into the second half, when Shane Haley fired a shot into the middle of the net on a cross from Brian Wright. The goal was Haley's first of the year.
Wright would add a goal of his own in the 68 minute. Wright scored from 16-yards out to put Vermont up, 2-0. They would add a goal in the 80th minute when Skyler Davis headed a cross from Loftur Eriksson to score his
Massachusetts had a great look at a goal late in the first half when Alex DeSantis sent a header into the top right of the net. The ball bounced off the crossbar and landed just in front of the goal line, where Vermont keeper Greg Walton fell on the ball to end the scoring threat by the Minutemen.
Walton gave way to replacement Eric Venezia in the 82nd minute. Venezia didn't face a shot and kept the Catamounts clean sheet in tact.
Vermont had a 15-9 shot advantage and a 9-1 corner advantage, while both teams tallied two saves in net. The Catamounts doubled up the Minutemen on fouls, 18-9.
