AMHERST, Mass. - Keith Burchett, a 5-11, 192-pound forward, who spent the 2013-14 season with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League (USHL), has joined the UMass hockey program as the ninth member of the Minutemen's Class of 2018, head coach John Micheletto announced on Monday.
"Keith is an old school, great hockey sense player who is going to create a lot of excitement on offense for the Minutemen in the future," said Micheletto.
Burchett, a native of Oak Brook, Ill., appeared in 57 games with Sioux Falls and totaled 42 points on 18 goals and 24 assists to go along with 53 penalty minutes. He led the Stampede with a .214 scoring percentage that ranked sixth in the USHL. Burchett was tapped as the USHL Player of the week on Nov. 4, 2013, after posting a five-point weekend.
A three-time Kennedy Cup champion and 2012 Illinois State High School champion with St. Rita High School, Burchett is the son of Keith and Patricia.
