Women's Lax Announces 2015 Schedule
December 19, 2014 | Women's Lacrosse
Eight home games at McGuirk Stadium and a meeting against Atlantic 10 newcomer Davidson highlight the UMass women's lacrosse 2015 schedule as announced by head coach Angela McMahon today. The Minutewomen will be playing for their seventh consecutive Atlantic 10 title this Spring along with a trip to their fifth straight NCAA Tournament.
UMass is coming off a 2014 campaign where the team posted an 18-2 overall record, won the Atlantic 10 Championship for a sixth-straight season, and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for a fourth straight year.
The 2015 schedule features a series of tough opponents with non con-conference games across New England before the start of Atlantic 10 play.
Several of the highlights include the season's first two games, the opener against UMass Lowell (Feb. 14) and Connecticut (Feb. 18), both at McGuirk Stadium, before the team heads out for three-straight road games at New Hampshire (Feb. 21), Boston University (Feb. 25) and Holy Cross (Feb. 28).
The Minutewomen will begin conference play at home on March 27 when they play host to Duquesne. This season, they will also host Richmond on April 24, who they defeated in the Atlantic 10 Championship game last spring.
The Atlantic 10 Tournament will be hosted by George Washington on May 1 through May 3 at the GW Lacrosse Field at its Mount Vernon Campus.
Last season, UMass posted its fourth-straight year of going undefeated in conference play. The Minutewomen's 28 consecutive regular-season league wins is the fourth longest such streak in NCAA history. Overall, UMass has won 40 consecutive games (including A-10 tournament games) against league teams.
Over the previous four seasons, UMass has been ranked among the top teams in the nation in terms of wins. The Minutewomen's 72 wins over the previous four wins are among the top five marks in collegiate women's lacrosse. Since 2011, UMass has spent a total of 46 consecutive weeks ranked in the Top-20.
