AMHERST, Mass. - UMass hockey head coach John Micheletto has announced that 2009 Vermont graduate John Gobeil will join his staff as the Director of Hockey Operations. Gobeil's hiring completes Micheletto's staff as the group will enter its first season behind the bench with the Minutemen.

"There is no better person than John Gobeil to become our program's first full-time Director of Hockey Operations," said Micheletto. "His knowledge of the game and of Hockey East, along with his strong work ethic and organizational skills, will be an immediate asset to the coaching and support staff. Also, his easy-going nature and can-do attitude makes him a welcome addition to the UMass family. I feel very fortunate to be able to round out an already unbelievable staff with the likes of John Gobeil."

"I'm excited to be joining the University of Massachusetts hockey program and John Micheletto's staff," said Gobeil. "I've developed a great relationship with John while working with him in the past and I'm thankful for this opportunity. I look forward to helping the Minutemen achieve success on and off the ice."

Gobeil comes to UMass from the University of Vermont where he served as Director of Hockey Operations for his alma mater from 2009-2012. As an undergrad at UVM, he was a student equipment manager for the Catamounts from 2006-2009 and earned his degree in Community Entrepreneurship.

A native of Derby, Vt., Gobeil was a two-year captain at North Country Union High School. He was named all-state as a senior and played in the senior all-star game.
