Jackie Lyons Named WomensLax.com All-American

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass women's lacrosse senior attack Jackie Lyons was named to the WomensLax.com All-America Team as announced on Thursday. Lyons led the Minutewomen to their third-straight Atlantic 10 Title and to the NCAA Tournament finishing the year with a 17-3 overall record. The Rocky Point, N.Y., native finished her career as the all-time leading point scorer in program history with 226 points.
In 2011, Lyons led UMass with 41 goals and 32 assists earning Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second straight season. Her 73 points this season were just one shy of the single-season school record.
Lyons was also named to the Atlantic 10 Tournament First Team and to the Atlantic 10 Tournament Team for the third straight season as well.
In four years, Lyons re-wrote the bulk of the UMass record book. In addition to her points record, she holds the school record for games played (76), games started (75), ranks third all-time in career goals (143), and ranks second all-time in career assists (82).
This is her second All-America award as she earned WoemensLacrosse.com All-America Third Team honors in 2010. Lyons also earned IWLCA All-Region First Team honors in 2010 and was the A-10 Tournament MVP in 2009 and 2010.
