UMass To Face Stanford In NCAA Play-In Game

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's lacrosse team will head to Stanford on Saturday, May 8, to face the Cardinal in the NCAA Play-In Game at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. The Minutewomen are coming off their second straight Atlantic 10 Championship, while Stanford won its sixth straight Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship with an 11-10 overtime win at Denver on Sunday.

Game time is set for 1 PM on Saturday and tickets can be ordered by calling 1-800-STANFORD. This will be the first ever meeting between the two lacrosse programs.

Following Saturday's loss at No. 1 Maryland, UMass is 10-9 on the season. All-American candidate Jackie Lyons leads UMass with 65 points on 46 goals and 19 assists. Jesse O'Donnell is UMass' second leading scorer with 37 goals and 9 assists.

Sophomore Katie Florence leads a UMass defense that is best in the Atlantic 10. Florence has a 9-9 overall record for the year with a 10.07 goals against average and a .432 save percentage.

Stanford is led by a trio of 50-point scorers in Lauren Schmidt (33g, 20a), Claire Hubbard (13g, 39a), and Sarah Flynn (38g, 12a). Dana Lindsay leads the Cardinal in goals with 39.

Annie Read is the main keeper for Stanford with a 9.25 goals against average and a .507 save percentage.
