Jackie Lyons Earns Pair Of Weekly Lax Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - After scoring eight goals and adding three assists to lead UMass to the Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship this past weekend, junior Jackie Lyons has been named the WomensLax.com Player of the Week and a UMass/Dinn Bros. Co-Athlete of the Week. Lyons was also named the A-10 Tournament MVP for the second straight year.
Lyons netted 11 points on the weekend to lead UMass to its second straight Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament Title with wins over La Salle and Richmond.
In Friday's win over No. 2 seed La Salle, Lyons scored three goals and added an assist in the 9-7 win.
In Sunday's championship win over No. 1 seed Richmond, she scored five goals and added two assist to tie her season high of seven points.
Her five goals moved her into 10th all-time at UMass with 99 career goals. Heading into the A-10 Tournament, she was named the A-10 Offensive Player of the Year and to the All-Conference First Team.
She enters this weekend's meeting with No. 1 Maryland as the UMass leader in goals (46), assists (19), and points (65). With the A-10 Tournament Title, UMass will face the winner of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament on May 8.
