Former UMass All-American lacrosse star Jack Reid was named to the 2011 Team USA Indoor Lacrosse squad on Tuesday. The 2006 grad could be joined by classmate and fellow UMass All-American Sean Morris, who was named to the Reserve Roster. The World Indoor Lacrosse Championship takes place at Telsa Arena in Prague, Czech Republic on May 21-28, 2011.
Reid plays professional lacrosse with the indoor Boston Blazers and outdoor Boston Cannons. Reid, along with Morris, led UMass to the 2006 NCAA Championship game. Reid was named a USILA First-Team All-American as a senior as well as UMass Athlete of the Year. He was a finalist for the Schmeisser Award as nation's top defenseman. Overall, he was a three-time All-American at UMass. He was also the 2006 ECAC Defensive Player of the Year and 2006 All-New England First Team. He tallied 215 career groundballs, with 72 as a senior.
Morris has a chance to be one of five additions to the roster from the Reserve Roster. Those picks will be announced in February.
Morris also plays pro lacrosse with the Blazers and Cannons and was a national runner -up for the Tewaaraton Award in 2006 in helping the Minutemen to the NCAA Championship. That season he picked up 72 points on 33 goals and 39 assists and finished third in the nation in points.
