LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The UMass men's soccer team posted an impressive 2-0 victory at Siena on Saturday. Goalkeeper Shane Curran-Hays posted eight saves for the whitewash. Mark DeSantis and Hermann Trophy Award candidate Ben Arikian scored for the Minutemen (2-1-3). Siena falls to 4-3-1.
DeSantis opened the game's scoring in the 10th minute. He scored on a shot from the right side of the box inside the left post. Arikian and Chris Roswess were credited with assists.
The Minutemen took the 1-0 lead into intermission and struck immediately after halftime. Arikian nailed his second goal of the season to the far post from the left corner of the box.
Siena outshot UMass, 20-14, but Curran-Hays was the difference making eight saves, five in the first half as Siena peppered him with 10 shots.
