Temple Head Coach Bonnie Rosen
The team was ready to go and they were determined and they've been that way since the moment I met them. The season started out with this goal in mind and they accomplished that.
Bonnie Rosen on the difference between this year and last year
It's the kids. They put their mind to what we need to do and they've been determined to take things step by step and Whitney [Richards] is a huge part of that.
Bonnie Rosen on free positions
Our team is really good at handling the physical pressure that UMass brings. We knew that was coming and our composure for most of the game was really key.
Bonnie Rosen on playing UMass last week
Oh yes. We were prepared for that. They brought the same aggressiveness, the same intensity, and it would be a battle of who would win today, not who would lose.
Temple's Whitney Richards on the team's performance
I think it was a team effort. Defense showed up and played excellent. [Brittney] Hoffman had a great game, but overall I think it was team effort and we stuck with our game plan.
Whitney Richards on the senior class
I think it's been an asset all year. They have a lot of knowledge, experience, and stay composed.
Whitney Richards on Coach Rosen
I think we were excited. As with any coach you're wondering how it is going to be. I think it went well and we've all pretty much adjusted. We're on the same page and we're all working well together.
Whitney Richards on Goalie Bridget McMullan
Bridget had a great game. She also had a great game Friday.
Whitney Richards on playing with twin sister, Hillary
People ask that all the time. I've never played without her so it's nice.
Coach Alexis Venechanos' general comments
I thought we got ourselves into too much of a hole in the first half. We were a little tight and they definitely took advantage of that. They had some good opportunities and we came out flat. They executed well and by the time we got into our rhythm, the game was out of reach. The effort was there, but Temple played a complete game and deserved to win.
Coach Venechanos on freshmen effort
Just being in the A-10 tournament for the first time in a couple of years, I thought we were definitely the more inexperienced team. Our seniors have never been here before and I think our freshmen stepped up. This experience will only help them in the future. Jackie Lyons played her heart out. Kelsey Schreiner had a huge goal for us and displayed good draw control. We are hoping that this experience will help us in the future.
Coach Venechanos on seniors
This senior class always puts the team on their backs. They left this team in great shape, establishing leadership on and off the field. They are leaving the program on a high note. We are going to sorely miss them at each position--goaltender, defense, midfield, and attack. It is going to be very hard to replace them on and off the field.
Coach Venechanos on next season
Moving forward, a lot of underclassmen played in this tournament and that is only going to help us next year. They got a taste of what it is like. We are going to get back here in the fall and win some games.
