Amherst, Mass. - The UMass women's rowing team opened the 2007 season at home with wins over New Hampshire and Coast Guard on Saturday.

The varsity eight won all three of its races to pace the Minutewomen. Coast Guard was second and New Hampshire was third in each of the races. UMass' varsity eight included Ellen Maskrey, Gabrielle Papineau, Sarah Marsan, Hannah Brewster, Airlina Burrill, Amanda Mawn, Elizabeth Hayashida, Tara Guinan, and coxswain Dana Pulda.

The second varsity eight won two of its three races. UNH won the other one. UMass' second varsity eight included Andrea Morand, Haley Fitzgerald, Karen Plevock, Erin Kelly, Rachael Nealer, Anna Welch, Kristen Boyce, Julie Markus, and coxswain Molly Morgan.

The third varsity eight won one of its four races, while the UMass novice eight won the other three races. New Hamphire's novice eight was third in all four events. UMass' third varsity eight included Courtney Mulvihill, Meaghan Dempster, Abby Lively, Stephanie Rist, Karalyn Walk, Sarah Potts, Anna Malinkevich, Maria Arcari, and coxswain Jeanine LeDoux. UMass' novice eight included Samantha Smith, Meghan Caffrey, Chelsea Finnegan, Jennifer Rivero, Stacey Susienka, Kathryn Kern, Amy Rayla, Allison Donzanti, and coxswain Melissa D'Amico.

The Minutewomen will row twice this weekend. On Saturday they will compete at the Yankee Cup in Kingston, R.I., and on Sunday at Orchard Beach, N.Y., with Colgate and Holy Cross.
