On Sunday morning, the Varsity 8 won the second semifinal in a time of 7:10.29 and then in the afternoon went on to post a second-place showing in the Varsity 8 Final with an impressive 6:53.05 to beat Bucknell, Boston College, Temple and Boston University. In doing so, the UMass Varsity 8 finished ahead of MAC opponent Temple, along with Delaware and Eastern Michigan who were in the third-level final.
"I was really happy overall with our two days of racing," head coach Eric Carcich said. "Our three 8 boats competed well, and our Varsity 4 really battled. We are five weeks out from the MAC Championship and I like where we are at but we know there is still we can gain."
The Second Varsity 8 placed third in the second semifinal with a time of 7:23.27. That boat went on to win Sunday afternoon's Second Varsity 8 Final 2 in 6:57.87, finishing ahead of UConn and third place Jacksonville.

The Varsity 4 (8:18.35) and Second Varsity 4 (8:38.74) placed fourth in Saturday's finals. The Varsity 4 finished ahead of MAC competitors from Delaware, Temple and Eastern Michigan.
The UMass Third Varsity 8 placed second in its final with a time of 7:22.46.
Massachusetts is back in action on Saturday, April 18 when they compete against Holy Cross, Boston College and UConn at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts.Â
