Massachusetts Rowing Heads To Inaugural MAC Championship

The first ever Mid-American Conference rowing championship will take place at Eastern Michigan’s Ford Lake.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts rowing team will head to Ypsilanti, Michigan to take part in the inaugural Mid-American Conference (MAC) rowing Championship, which will be contested at Ford Lake on Saturday, May 16.Â
Racing is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, with the hosts from Eastern Michigan, UMass and Toledo as well as affiliate members Delaware, High Point and Temple comprising the championship field.  Â
The teams will field five boats including Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8, Varsity 4 and Second Varsity 4 with the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 contributing to championship scoring. Â
The winning team will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which will take place May 29-31 in Gainesville, Georgia. Â

Championship HistoryÂ
Massachusetts will be looking to earn a conference championship for the first time since 2017. Â
Massachusetts previously captured 16 conference titles, all in the Atlantic 10, dating back to 1996. Â
