UMass earned the league's Rower, Coxswain, Newcomer and Coach of the Year awards

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Massachusetts rowing team swept the Mid-American Conference's postseason awards, with Olivia Ollerenshaw earning Rower of the Year honors, Amanda Scally named Coxswain of the Year, Mia Booth selected as Newcomer of the Year and Eric Carcich recognized as Coach of the Year, the conference office announced Friday morning.

The awards come as a result of last Saturday's dominant performance at the 2026 MAC Championship, where UMass captured all five races to secure the conference title. Ollerenshaw, Scally and Booth were part of the Varsity 8 boat that earned gold with a time time of 6:37.5.

Ollerenshaw, a sophomore from Dunedin, New Zealand, serves in the stroke seat of the Varsity 8. Scally, a junior from Greenland, New Hampshire, moved from leading the Varsity 4 in 2024-25 to the Varsity Eight for the current campaign. Booth, a freshman from Pymble, Australia who has the fastest 2k among UMass freshmen, has rowed in the Varsity Eight for the entirety of the 2025-26 season as well.

Carcich, who is in his seventh season with UMass, guided the team to their first conference championship since 2017, which also marked the 17th conference title in program history. It marked Carcich's third career Coach of the Year honor, having previously been named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2013 while at George Washington.

Carcich and his staff will now lead UMass into the NCAA Championship, which will take place May 29-31 in Gainesville, Georgia.
