Will Ortiz Named Hockey East Superskills Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - The Hockey East Association announced Monday that Massachusetts forward Will Ortiz (Framingham, Mass.) was honored as the Superskills Rookie of the Week for his weekend performance vs. New Hampshire. This marks the first league honor for the UMass freshman.
Ortiz set a new mark for goals in a game with his pair against the No. 2 Wildcats on Saturday at the Mullins Center. Ortiz scored the second and third goals of the night en route to UMass' 3-0 shutout. His four goals and 13 points overall pace all Minutemen rookies.
UMass' win was its ninth at home this season, a mark that is fourth in the nation. With the win, Massachusetts took the season series with New Hampshire for just the second time, the first taking place during the 2000-01 season. UNH previously hadn't lost on the road in 2006-07, while both of their league losses have come at the hands of UMass.
