Four Minutemen Named To UMass/Holy Cross All-Tournament Team

AMHERST, Mass. - Headlined by sophomore Mike DeSantis being named Tournament MVP, the UMass men's soccer team placed four Minutemen on the UMass/Holy Cross Invitational All-Tournament Team. UMass posted two wins in the two day tournament defeating Siena on Friday and St. Bonaventure in overtime on Sunday. UMass is off to its best start since the 1970 and 1971 seasons at 5-0-1 and ranked No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Joining DeSantis on the team for UMass was defender Kenny Cook (Fairport, N.Y.), forward Bryan Hogan (Lititz, Pa.), and goalkeeper Zack Simmons (Durham, N.H.).
Cook and Simmons helped the Minutemen posts its fifth shutout in the season, while Hogan and DeSantis each tallied game-winning goals (Hogan against Siena, DeSantis against St. Bona).
The Minutemen will play against this weekend when they host the UMass Tournament at Rudd Field. On Friday, UMass will face Hartford at 2 p.m., while Rhode Island and Vermont kick-off at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Rhode Island will play Hartford at Noon and UMass will take on Vermont at 2 p.m. Admission is free to all!
