AMHERST, Mass. - Katie Leland scored six points on four goals and two assists and Alexa Webster led all scorers with five goals as the visiting New Hampshire Wildcats defeated the UMass women's lacrosse team 17-8 on Saturday afternoon at Garber Field. Senior Kerri Connerty (Nashua, N.H.) scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Minutewomen. Connerty is now tied for ninth all-time in career points with 115. She also moved into eighth all-time in career assists notching her 39th in 58 games.

Along with Connerty's three points, freshman Kaytlin McCormick (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) notched two goals to lead UMass. Junior Samantha Sepulveda (Freeport, N.Y.), sophomore Kathleen Typadis (Medfield, Mass.), sophomore Melynda Zwick (Holland, Pa.), and senior Lauren Reid (Portland, Maine) each scored once in the loss.

Typadis now has a team-leading 19 points for the season. She scored her 18th goal of the season giving her 54 in 25 games. Sepulveda continued her hot scoring streak of late as she also had an assist in the game giving her seven points in the last three games. Sepulveda had a career-high four goals in Wednesday's loss at Hofstra. Reid scored her first goal of the season with just under five minutes to play in the game after being set-up by junior Erica Shapiro (Norfolk, Mass.). Shapiro's assist was the first of her career.

New Hampshire (3-4) outshot UMass (2-6) 45-to-22 for the game - including a 27-to-7 margin in the second half. The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game and used a pair of 4-0 runs in the first half and second half to cruise in the victory.

The Wildcats led 10-5 at halftime after Kristin Blanchette recorded the second goal of her three-goal effort with 23 seconds remaining in the first half.

Zwick cut the lead back to just four, 10-6, to start the second half, but UNH tallied four consecutive goals to put the game out of reach.

After a statistically even first half, New Hampshire controlled much of the play in the second stanza. The Wildcats held a 20-to-10 margin in groundballs and committed just five fouls to 19 for UMass in the period. UNH finished the game with a 18-to-9 edge in draw controls as well.

Redshirt junior Lauren McCarthy (Derry, N.H.) started the game making seven saves while allowing 10 goals to take the loss. Sophomore Krissy Anderson (Baldwin, N.Y.) played the entire second half giving up seven goals while stopping 12 shots.

New Hampshire's 45 shots for the game was a season-high for a UMass opponent this year. The Minutewomen did, however, tie their season-low for turnovers with just 12 on the afternoon.

The Minutewomen return to action on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. when UMass hosts Vermont at Garber Field. Admission is free to all.
