UMass returns 18 letterwinners, including 10 starters, from last season's team.
Offensively, the Minutewomen return their top threats in senior Kerri Connerty (Nashua, N.H.) and sophomore Kathleen Typadis (Medfield, Mass.). The duo combined for 70 goals and 94 points in 2004. As a team UMass returns 83 percent of their offensive scoring from 2005.
Defensively, senior Jackie Nesbitt (Springfield, Pa.) and junior Erica Shapiro (Norfolk, Mass.) anchor the Minutewomen. Nesbitt led the Minutewomen in 2005 with 56 groundballs - which ranked 11th in the NCAA - and 20 caused turnovers.
The Minutewomen have a talented group of newcomers joining the program as well, highlighted by freshmen Holly Drown (Nashua, N.H.), Kaytlin McCormick (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), and Jamie Whiteway (Billerica, Mass.) who were all 2005 U.S. Lacrosse High School All-Americans.
Head Coach Carrie Bolduc enters her fourth season at the helm of UMass. This is her seventh year with the program as she served as an assistant coach for three years prior to being named the head coach. Her staff includes former UMass All-Americans Tracey Drown, who enters her second year, and Jen Nardi, who enters her first season back at UMass. Nardi was a position where she was a 2001 Preseason All-American, an IWLCA North Regional Selection, and an Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection.
