AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Karen Upperco (Titusville, N.J.) posted two wins, including the third-best three-meter dive in school history on Saturday at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool as the UMass swimming and diving teams defeated Boston University. The women's team won 141-100 and the men's team won 141-97.

With the victory, the men's swim team has extended its dual meet win streak to 11 dating back to Jan. 18, 2004.

On the diving boards, freshman Upperco continued her dominance as she recorded the third best three-meter dive in school history. The three-time high school All-American scored 272.77 points to take first in the event. She also won the one-meter dive with a 260.92 point effort - the sixth best mark in program history.

The Minutewomen took control of the meet when freshman Christa Narus (Stony Brook, N.Y.), sophomore Sam Demty (Seekonk, Mass.) and freshman Jackie Porter (Holliston, Mass.) swept the 200 yard individual medley. Narus won the event with a personal-best time of two minutes, 11.74 seconds.

Narus, who has been a stand-out over the first four meets of the season, picked up her second win of the day in the 200-yard butterfly where she swam the fifth fastest time in UMass history (2:09.25) for her top time of the season.

Other individual winners for the Minutewomen included Aimee Bourassa (200 free, 1:57.99), Nicole LeBarge (50 free, 25.14 seconds), Kelly Hoffrage (100 free, 53.90 seconds), and Taryn Prout (200 back, 2:11.05).

On the men's side, UMass jumped out of the gates quickly taking the top two spots in the 400 yard medley relay.

Western Massachusetts natives Greg Chartier (Amherst, Mass.), Chambers, and freshman Nate Bromage (Three Rivers, Mass.) were key figures in the win.

Chartier won the 200-yard free followed by a win in the 200-yard fly. Chambers took second in the 200 free and teamed up with Bromage to help the 400 free relay team posted the fastest time of the day. Bromage, the A-10 Rookie of the Week two weeks ago, also won the 100 free.

Sophomore A.J. Vozella won the 50 free and the 500 free, while junior Jake Hogue (Grand Junction, Colo.) won the 200 yard individual medley and the 200 yard back. Hogue sparked a sweep of the 200 individual medley as Priest and freshman Brad Sloan (Shrewsbury, Pa.) took second and third, respectively, to give the Minutemen a firm grip on the meet.

UMass sealed the victory just as they did last weekend at Southern Connecticut with wins on the three-meter diving board. Sophomore R.J. Rappe (Farmington, Minn.) won the event with 315.68 points and redshirt-sophomore Kirk Scimone (Brockton, Mass.) took second (258.30) to put the meet out of contest for the Terriers.

The swimming and diving teams will resume action next Friday, Nov. 18 at Army. The meet is set for a 5:00 p.m. start.
